SIR(Special intensive revision):- The Sir is a unique voter list verification process in India launch  by Election commission of India(ECI)  in 2025 into Bihar assembly election, its importance is accurate and Froud free election through comprehensive voter validation A updated voter list also prepared by SIR.ECI has released fine data of SIR of Bihar in sch data nearby 6% voter decreased in updated list. now ECI has decide to voter verification in all over India by SIR.

What is SIR electoral roll in Bihar:-

The ECI begun a special intensive revision (SIR) in electoral roll on 1 July 2025 before Bihar state assembly election, so many controversy on this topic by many political parties on the decision of ECI also its discussed in parliament Monsoon session and in Supreme court.in the process every voter reverify their details by submitting form 6 along with strict proof of citizenship and residence.

The SIR's efforts is to "that no eligible person left out while no ineligible person included in electoral roll, As per notification from ECI that final electoral roll published after objection resolved. Final electoral roll released by ECI as per SIR validation process in Bihar as per data 6% voter decreased.

Key stage of the SIR verification process:-

  • Pre revision training and activities:-ECI official and including electoral registration offices and BLO's will be trained with verification process.
  • House to house verification:-BLO's to visit Door to Door for verification of every voter, they collect documents from voter,
  • Cross verification:-information collected by BLO's cross verified and removed ineligible voters.
  • Draft roll publication:- After cross verification competed and ineligible voters removed a draft roll published.
  • Claims and objection:- The public is given a specific time period for clam and objection for any citizen left  in the draft roll publication
  • Official enquiry:-Electoral Registration officers conduct enquiry on above claims and resolve the objection and claims.
  • Final Roll publication:-After ARO's resolved claims and objection in the draft publication a final roll published.

 Documents required for verification in SIR:-

  • Any identity card PPO issued by central government or state government.
  • Any identity card issued by state government , central government , Banks and PCU.
  • Birth certificate.
  • Passport
  • Matriculation and education certificate issued by certified board and university.
  • permanent Residence certificate issued by state government  
  • Cast Certificate for SC,ST & OBC
